1933 establishment of the geological formation in the frame work of the Iraqi state under the name department of geology, ministry of communication and economy.
1966 Creation of the general directorate of geological survey and mineral investigation, ministry of oil and minerals .
1969 transfer of the G. D. to the national Iraqi minerals company, ministry of oil. than transfer to the ministry of industry and minerals at 1974.
1997 rename to the state company of geological survey and mining, ministry of industry and minerals, and still.
